Silk, stars and samurais: my vintage wish list

I’m trying not to buy things at the moment. My boyfriend and I are saving to go on a selection of awesome adventures involving elephants, sloths and tapirs. In lieu of actually buying anything I’ve just made a long list of things I love right now.

Chambray blue cotton dress, The Vintage Mistress

This feels like the perfect spring/summer dress. I particularly the lacy panel down the front and the sweet little bow at the neck.

1930s Japanese clutch bag, Junkaholique

This colourful little clutch bag is currently on sale. I love the samurai and the diagonal purple swoosh.

Celestial Yves Saint Laurent Dress, BOB Vintage

I’ve not yet had the pleasure of buying anything at BOB, the luxury vintage emporium curated by Dawn O’Porter. I’ve popped into one of the pop ups, moved things along the rail, thought about purchasing one of her custom pieces and then strolled away empty-handed. That’s not to say the clothes aren’t nice, they’re just expensive enough to make you need to think about it.

This silk and velvet Yves Saint Laurent dress is dotted with planets and stars, with a pulled in waist, and long sleeves. It demands a sense of occasion, so I’d take it out for gin cocktails, somewhere dark and glamorous, like Dandylyan at the Mondrian Hotel.

1970s Mini Dress Set, The Vintage Mistress

This little tartan set would look great with a plain long sleeved t-shirt or a black polo neck underneath. I’d also pop on some black boots and stomp around like Alicia Silverstone in Clueless. If I’m honest, I’d probably have to ditch the cardigan though, as I feel that makes the outfit a little frumpy …

Stars of Babylon Dress, Adored Vintage

I spotted this lovely dress when I was hunting around for a 1920s evening gown for a party in December. This beautiful little number was sadly slightly over my budget, so it stayed well and truly on the virtual shelf. It’s a black silk chiffon flapper dress, with gathered sections at the sides. The intricate trim is laced with pearls and little delicate silver beads.
